Distance to ski area Portes du Soleil ~600 m. This charming chalet, dated back to 1789, is a real jewel and combines harmonically its historic exterior with modern comfort. The well-equipped chalet disposes of an outdoor jacuzzi, a fire place and free WiFi. The chalet was mainly built in stone, the traditional material of the region, and was converted with an eye for details. Depending on snow and weather conditions, you can ski directly from the ski area to the chalet (no marked or prepared ski run, use at own risk).
The chalet is situated approx. 600 m away from the 4-seated express chair lift "Petit Châtel" – your entrance to the ski area Portes du Soleil. This chair lift is the connection to the Swiss ski spots Torgon and Morgins.
Smaller shops and restaurants approx. 600 m away. Distance to the ski bus stop (connection to the village centre and ski area Linga) ~300 m.
Distance to the lively village centre of Châtel with its restaurants, bars, shopping possibilities, two ice-skating rinks, après-ski bars, new aquatic centre (spa and fitness areas), walks on horse-drawn carriage approx. 2 km. Childcare from two years on.

Great chalet in a good location with very friendly and helpful landlords! Fireplace and jacuzzi are wonderful and included in the price. The only drawback is the rather narrow bedrooms with quite small beds (double bed with 140cm).

Beautifully restored chalet, cosy furnishings, good kitchen equipment. Situated high up on the mountain above the village. Wonderful view from the balcony over the village to the surrounding mountains and some slopes. Whirlpool for max. 6 people in front of the house, very clean.
There is no heated ski room. Skis are stored in the woodshed and boots must be taken into the house. Stove unfortunately not fully intact. A firebrick kept falling over and had to be put back up again. The stove is still usable and cosy, though. Unfortunately, the radiator in one of the two bathrooms was faulty. It was replaced on the penultimate day of our stay. We had not done it urgently, because the bathroom was still acceptably warm. There were also occasional problems with the electrics. When operating several appliances at the same time (hob, oven, fridge, freezer and hairdryer) the fuse often blew. This required good planning when cooking and showering in the evening.
Unfortunately, there are some real drawbacks for the beds. By "double bed" they mean French mattresses, 120 or 140 cm wide, 200 cm long. This was not really comfortable for all of us tall people. Only one of the 4 bedrooms has a double bed with 2 separate mattresses, each 80 cm wide. Unfortunately, these are very worn out. The duvets are the usual thin blankets used in France, which are only covered with a throw sheet as "bed linen". For the "double beds" there is only one common blanket.
The landlords on site (or managers?) were very friendly and helpful. Communication in French and English.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful chalet. There were six of us and we had very enjoyable family evenings.
However, we would not recommend this house for more than 8 people (only 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets). And also not for people who like to go out in the evening and love après-ski. The ski bus only runs until 18:00, so you would always have to drive to the village, where parking is an adventure in itself: far too few parking spaces, and all of them for a fee! Also only limited suitability for people with disabilities, because only a steep wooden staircase leads to the upper floor.
