Tignes is one of the most famous French ski resorts and belongs to the ski area "Espace Killy". It has 2100 m of altitude and therefore guarantees snow from November til May. Tignes is situated in a spacious high valley next to a small lake and consists of three village parts - Le Lavachet, Val Claret and Tignes-le-Lac. But in contrary to Val d’Isère, Tignes does not offer a cosy or romantic mountain atmosphere. Instead, Tignes offers an excellent and broad after-ski entertainment: numerous bars, restaurants, shops, clubs, tennis and squash court, sauna, indoor swimming pool and much more. Please note: in Tignes all public parking spaces are chargeable (reservation recommended). The most beautiful village part Val Claret is situated at the end of the valley, directly at the modern subterranean express train 'Funiculaire Grande Motte', which takes you up to the glacial ski area (3.030 m altitude) in only 5 minutes. But Tignes would not be Tignes, if there was not an amazing choice of deep powder snow runs as well.
